building confidence
  • I have been struggling with confidence on the football field for a while now. Any ideas on how to build confidence?

Practice your skills. Improve them and confidence will flow from that.

Concentrate on getting small things right in training and games. When you get the minor things right the bigger things usually fall into place.

Get yourself physically prepared - if you feel you are losing out to more physical opponents then you need to get a strength and conditioning program going

Psychologically prepare yourself for games/training. If you care about what you are doing you'll be motivated and set yourself small targets to achieve.
  • thanks for that hopefully it will help me

Confidence comes from your mentality. When you complete a task like getting yourself through a work out or practice it makes you feel good about it. Your confidence boosts up. I remember when I used to train, my conditioning was what made me confident. Especially when I would see my teammates gasping for air the last 10 min of practice and I would feel like I could endure another 20 minutes of the physicality.
